The University of Mount Union, established in 1846 in Alliance, Ohio, began as a Methodist seminary and has evolved into a comprehensive liberal arts institution. The raglan sweatshirt was named after FitzRoy Somerset, 1st Baron Raglan, who is said to have worn a coat with this style of sleeve after the loss of his arm in the Battle of Waterloo. Its sleeve construction provides a greater range of motion and more comfortable fit for different body types.
