Founded in 1893 by an Act of Congress, American University is a leading institution for political and social sciences in the nation's capital. The raglan sweatshirt was named after FitzRoy Somerset, 1st Baron Raglan, who is said to have worn a coat with this style of sleeve after the loss of his arm in the Battle of Waterloo. Its sleeve construction provides a greater range of motion and more comfortable fit for different body types.
