G.H. Bass X Buck Mason

Just as the 501 is to blue jeans, the loafer is essential to any conversation about footwear. Its origins are storied, but one common denominator has always been G.H. Bass. The brand’s founder once said he only ever set out to make the best possible shoe for the job—so when it came time to make a loafer with our name on it, Bass was the obvious answer to a question we never needed to ask.

Our collaboration recuts the original Larson "Weejun" in Horween’s black Chromexcel. Wanting something that looks and wears tough, but with an easy break out of the box, Chromexcel was another clear choice.

Made in Chicago using a time-honored, multi-step tanning process, its high oil and wax content allows creases to darken while high contact areas gain a natural shine—evolving from a glossy, even toned finish to a characteristically worn surface with a deep, expressive sheen.

From there, we let Bass do what they do best—finishing the fully lined Larson with a handsewn toe, a Blake-stitched sole with ironed edges, and a distinctive “beefroll” penny strap. The result isn’t a reinvention, but a respectful continuation, going back to where it all started.
